St George Island and Apalachicola
Historic Apalachicola used to be Florida’s best-kept wedding secret. But unlike Vegas, what happens in Apalach usually gets blogged. The appeal of having a wedding in a picturesque oyster village along the forgotten coast is growing in popularity. When Elizabeth and Ryan decided to have a destination wedding, Apalachicola was their first choice. Ryan’s family has been apart of that community for years. Delegating much of the planning to others allowed Elizabeth and Ryan to not stress over last-minute changes. They knew it would all come together in the end. And it did. The only thing that truly mattered to them both was making sure their families could be together. They filled a six-bedroom house on St. George Island with an army of party-goers. Enough to stage a coup but not enough to scare the natives. By the end of the reception, a handful of local well-wishers had wandered by the Studio Gallery. Half were there to congratulate the happy couple and the other half were there to admire the euphoric dancing.
Elizabeth and Ryan
Before the ceremony at Trinity Episcopal, Ryan and Elizabeth wanted to explore a long list of places around town for their historic Apalachicola wedding. Fun, right?! However, during rehearsal dinner toasts, teasing revealed Elizabeth habitually runs late. And Ryan has the attention span of a puppy. To my surprise though, the wedding gods were smiling upon us. The entire day was pretty damn smooth. Not only did we visit all locations on the must-have list, and we added five additional stops. Plus but fueled by two red bulls and in the name of love, we committed a little light trespassing. Perhaps the ability to freeze time was another reason why having the wedding there was such a perfect choice.
Congratulations Elizabeth and Ryan! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your timelessly beautiful and highly energetic wedding!
