Skylar & Aubrey
Santa Cruz Mountains Redwoods Wedding at Pema Osel Ling
Corralitos, California
.
When I met Skylar and Aubrey three years ago at a wedding in Carmel Valley, I should have anticipated they would one day be celebrating their own nuptials. At the time, they were six months into a new romance, all smiles, soft touches, and some pretty sweet dance moves, considering Aubrey was hobbled with a foot cast. Actually, it was during these early days after Aubrey’s ankle surgery, that he first fell in love with Skylar. Her kindness and support, coupled with her propensity to make everything special, spun him head over heels. It was his kindness, affection, and absolute acceptance that won her her heart – well, that and a growing collection of handmade cards ranging from sweet to hilarious.
Pema Osel Ling
Nestled in the Santa Cruz mountains is Pema Osel Ling, a Buddist retreat spread throughout a lot of rolling acreage filled with redwoods. I’d like to think some clever soul had the forethought to plant some of those redwoods in a lovely circle hundreds of years ago knowing eventually it would be the perfect amphitheater for an intimate wedding. Highly unlikely, but Skylar and Aubrey had the forethought to choose a place where they could spend the whole weekend with family and friends within walking distance and surrounded by nature. And I’m glad they did because it gave me a chance to spend another fun weekend with their amazing – and growing – family.
