Aunt Martha’s Bed & Breakfast
Hurricane Nate was the uninvited intruder at Jessica & James Ft. Walton Beach wedding last weekend. Their vision for an intimate brunch soirée was so beautiful. First Look on the porch of Aunt Martha’s B&B overlooking the bay. Portraits in the garden and on the dock. Ceremony under the massive arms of the old oak tree dripping with moss. And it would have been perfect if it weren’t for the pounding rain, strong winds, and storm surge.
Jessica & James
But it didn’t stop us. We still laughed, we still cried, we still danced and we still brunched the heck out of that Sunday afternoon. But best of all, Jessica and James still officially became their own family. When I get emails from these two lovebirds, James’s name automatically shows up as Love of My Life. It makes me smile every time. Knowing what’s truly important in life is a good lesson to learn and we seem to be reminded of that with every passing storm.
Jessica uses the word Framily. It’s a good word and it aptly describes that we can pick our family just as we pick our nose friends. And that they are equally important in our lives. Jessica and James’ framily is a hearty crew to brave the elements. But then again, between the cinnamon rolls and cupcakes, I’m on the fence about their real motives for attending a wedding during a hurricane. Despite assurances to the contrary, I’m convinced the secret ingredient in those cinnamon rolls was crack.
