I couldn’t help but laugh at Ben when oh shit escaped his lips as he caught sight of Bethany cresting the boardwalk at their Henderson Beach wedding Sunday afternoon. From the first moment I met him, he’d been cracking jokes nonstop but at that moment, Bethany took his breath away. She was stunning. Barefoot, long blond hair blowing in the wind and a smile to match no other. She was the quintessential beach bride.

British Bethany met New Zealander Ben when he went to Wimbledon to watch his friends play. (Yeah, that Wimbledon) They hit it off and became a match set pretty quickly. Eight years later, they are established New Yorkers running a sciency-mathy, biology-based startup and making the rest of us feel like the guy from high school still living in his parent’s basement. In her spare time, Bethany also planned a beautifully detailed destination wedding in a matter of weeks. (Yeah, weeks) They wanted their intimate and relaxed wedding weekend to be the exact opposite of the daily bustle back home.
They pulled it off in spades and I loved being a part of it. With only a handful of people in attendance, it was special getting hear each person’s heartfelt wishes for the newlyweds. It may have taken these two hard-working lovebirds eight years to get here but it was worth the wait.
